Pamela Suzette Grier was born in Winston-Salem, NC, to a nurse and an Air Force mechanic. Her family moved to Los Angeles in 1968, where she worked as a receptionist and in Roger Corman’s New World Pictures. Pam Grier gained notice early and made her screen debut as an extra in “Beyond the Valley of the Dolls” (1970). Pam Grier went on and was cast in “Women in Prison” then film “The Big Doll House” (1971) and “The Big Bird Cage “(1972). She did the lead role in “Coffy” (1973): As the title character, she takes revenge on drug dealers, establishing her as a top box-office draw. Pam Grier went on the play “Foxy Brown” (1974): Often considered her most iconic role, she plays a woman seeking vengeance for her boyfriend’s murder. In (1975) she played in “Sheba Bady” portraying a private investigator returning to her hometown. Pam Grier career begin in (1970) and spanned upward through 3 decades to (2009).
